20 Vineyard Wedding Ideas

*UPDATED FOR 2021* Since we’re talking vineyard weddings in October, I thought it was the perfect moment for me to round up 20 ways that you can bring a winery theme to your wedding – even if you aren’t planning a wine route celebration. There are so many cute vineyard wedding ideas out there, from decor to favours to guest books, and while of course you’re not going to want to do ALL of them (too themey!), adding in a couple will add that extra layer of detail that makes your guests go ‘ooh!’ I’ve tried to find some fresh new ideas, as well as some classics, so scroll down and find your favourite. And don’t forget to check out the fabulous vineyard wedding details I found for sale on Etsy! I think you’ll agree, they’re all rather ‘wine-derful’! (Lame joke, I know. Sorrynotsorry.)

1. Vine chair decoration
Such a pretty idea for sweetheart chairs – add some vine prettiness instead of a swag of ribbon or flowers. Just, um, don’t get grape juice on your dress ;)

2. Cork signs & monograms
We’ll be rounding up cork DIYs soon, but here’s one of my faves – creating letters using corks to spell out your names or a fun phrase like ‘amore’.

3. Wine barrel decor
There are loads of lovely ways to include wine barrels in your decor – in fact, we recently rounded up 15 of them!

4. Wine bottle guest books
Instead of a traditional guest book, use wine bottles as a twist. Three great ideas from real weddings: getting guests to sign a single bottle, having them sign different bottles designated for your different anniversaries, or providing empty anniversary bottles and asking them to write notes for each anniversary and drop them inside.

5. Grape cake decoration
How absolutely gorgeous does this traditional wedding cake look adorned with lush red grapes? A stylish and natural way of reinforcing the theme.

6. Wine unity ceremony
This is a great little twist on the more traditional candle or sand unity ceremonies. Each of you pours a different wine into a single vessel creating a unique blend – just like your marriage!

7. Wine wedding favours
Talk about a favour your guests will want to keep! You can give them mini bottles of wine or champagne, create customised labels for your gifts, or simply (especially if you’re hosting your wedding at a winery) offer bottles of the farm’s own vintage. They’re sure to go down a storm!

8. Cork centrepieces
There are loads of ways to use corks in your decor, but who would have thought that having a vase or cloche full of them was so adorable?!

9. Wine cork boutonniere
I do love a cute novelty boutonniere, don’t you? These little cork numbers are perfect for a wine farm wedding (or just a wine lovin’ groom!)

10. Wine-inspired table names
For a vineyard wedding, an elegant option instead of table numbers is table names inspired by different varieties. (PS Look out for some great ideas for escort cards & table plans for vineyard weddings, which we’ll be covering next week!)

11. Cork guest book
Here’s another wine-y twist on the traditional guest book. Get your guests to each sign a cork and then pop it into a bottle or display box, which you can keep in your home.

12. Wine bottle centrepieces
Wine bottles can be used in lots of ways as part of your wedding decor, but having them as vases for centrepieces is my favourite. Keep them plain, spraypaint them with metallic paint, wrap them in twine or lace, or get creative with patterns – you only need to take a peek at Pinterest to find dozens of ideas.

13. Crate centrepieces
Fill wine crates and wooden boxes with flowers for lovely, rustic centrepieces that reflect the vineyard theme.

14. Vineyard photo backdrop
There’s no question that vines make for a gorgeous backdrop, but you don’t need to save that beauty just for your couple session. Set up an outdoor photobooth so your guests can enjoy it as well.

15. Mini cheese platter centrepieces
Nothing goes better with wine than cheese, and while we LOVE a good cheese wheel wedding cake, we also love the idea of having mini cheese platters at each table, as part of the centrepiece!

16. Cork keyring favours
Another fun way to use wine corks (and an inexpensive DIY favour) is to turn them into keyrings, which make a great little display. I love how, as the favours were removed, they revealed the message ‘Thank you for all the love’ from the couple!

17. Cork ring shot
There’s a variety of ways that corks can be used to create that perfect-for-the-album vineyard wedding ring shot – be sure to have a couple handy for your photographer!

18. Vineyard-themed stationery
As with all themes, stationery using a wine motif can get a little cheesy, but there are lots of great suites out there too. Here’s ONE of my personal faves.

19. Grape centrepieces
Including grapes in your centrepieces is a great, natural way of referencing a winelands location. Plus, if the best man rattles on for hours, the guests won’t get too hungry.

20. Wine glass wedding favours
Wine glasses (especially ones engraved with your names/wedding logo/monogram) make darling favours, and there’s no sweeter way to display them than in these lace-lined wooden cubby holes, numbered by table.

  1. Love all the ideas that use corks! I’ve always enjoyed making crafts with wine corks; there’s just something about them that’s so neat. The “AMORE” sign is awesome!
