Indian Fusion Helderfontein Estate Wedding by Jack and Jane Photography {Manisha & Martin}

We’re heading towards the end of our first week back at work, and our first week of 2014 wedding loveliness here on SBB – how has it been for you? I must say, I am full of excitement at what the year has in store (of course, it makes a difference that for the first time in years I’m in the sunshine instead of braving the January cold in London!). And just wait until you see the weddings I am lining up for you in the weeks to come – as my Dad would joke, “you’ll daaah”. But today we’re all about Martin and Manisha’s cross-cultural celebration, and I absolutely adore the rich winter berry colours that they chose. And Manisha’s bridal style – WOW. I especially love how she’s paired all the intricacy of her jewellery and her sari and that insanely gorgeous henna with a simple, elegant bouquet of calla lilies. SBB fave Laura Jane Photography was there to capture every gorgeous image, telling the story of the day from beginning to beautiful end.

Love Story
Martin and I both work in the IT industry – he is a software engineer and I’m a senior manager in Infrastructure. We met while on an IT project at the JSE. We were initially friends, and then he asked me out in the Venus boardroom ;-)

The Proposal
Martin planned a long weekend away at the Erinvale Estate in Somerset West. He popped the question after a romantic dinner, and I said yes!

The Venue
We chose Helderfontein as our venue, for the views.

Wedding Style
The theme for our wedding was Indian Fusion. Since our wedding was at the beginning of winter, we chose warm, elegant colours. We had elephant centrepieces as the elephant symbolizes Lord Ganesha in Hinduism. We also included the Garba, a traditional gujerati dance, in our celebration, and tried to incorporate both Martin’s musical taste (classical and metal) and mine (Bollywood) in music!

Memorable Moments
Amazing photographs, great food, and the entire family dancing and having a good time!

Advice
Take a couple of days off after the wedding, if you’re not going on honeymoon immediately. Decide what details are important to you, and worth spending money on. And remember that the first dress you have an instinct about is the ONE!
