Real Wedding at Roodezand {Chrisna & Charl}

Ah, serendipity. Not just one of my favourite words (and favourite films, hello, John Cusack!) but something I think over and over again when I read how the brides and grooms here on Cap Classique meet. Happy accidents. There they are, going about their lives, and suddenly – boom, everything changes. Proof that that little cupid guy can strike just about anywhere. Even the gym. Case in point: today’s bride and groom, who had a serendipitous beginning and a whirlwind romance, resulting in the sweetest little wedding at Roodezand in Tulbagh. A perfectly romantic wedding, with soft florals and silver accents, and a couple radiating happiness at the start of their new life. Details I heart: the Coke bottle chandelier, the bridal party being serenaded all the way to the chapel, and OMG the bride’s styling. Wait till you see her sweet silver flats, sparkly hair band and adorable little cape! Not to mention, pretty pretty dress. All of this goodness is brought to you through the beautiful photography of Adene Nieuwoudt – I’m particularly in love with the shots she captured of the couple on their own. Enjoy!

From Chrisna, the bride:
Charl and I went to school together and grew up in the same town, but did not see each other for ten years. We met one morning purely by chance in the gym and we both instantly knew this was the person with whom we would spend the rest of our days. We got engaged after only two months and have never been apart since. We love spending time in each other’s company more than anything else. Coffee dates are a set rule, and we try and have them at least twice a week. We are also very active people and love exercise. Some might say it regulates our lives.

We wanted a small wedding (60-70 guests) and were looking for a venue that was intimate and had some character. We heard about Roodezand in Tulbagh and the moment we met the owners and saw the venue and setting with the old chapel we knew THIS IS IT!!! We loved the beauty, tranquility and old world feel of the venue and the personal attention from the hosts (Karin and Jan) really catered to our needs.

I am not one for over-the-top decorations, so I decided on peach-avalanche roses as the main flowers. I love everything nostalgic and with an old world romantic charm to it. I therefore asked Anli Wahl from Colors,who did my flowers, to try to get silver teapots and small vases to put the flowers in – I basically gave her free rein to do whatever she thought would work best with the venue and the feel I was going for. We loved the intimacy of only having the people we wanted to share our days with, and spending the best night of our lives together.

I am a total chocoholic and dessert was the most important course – anyone who knows me well will tell you I first look at the dessert menu at restaurants and accordingly order my main course. Got to get the priorities right! So I made sure we had THE BEST and most decadent brownies as our wedding cake – thank you Eric from Bloomin Brilliant Brownies!

My advice to future couples is not to ever waste money on dancing lessons. Ever! Invite only who you want to share the day with, and enjoy every moment. If something goes “wrong” or is just not 100% the way you pictured it, don’t stress about it! No-one else knows how it was supposed to look.

Many thanks to the lovely Chrisna and Charl for allowing us to share their pretty day with them! And thank you to Adene for her yummy pics – you can see more of this wedding on her blog.
