Happy Valentine’s Day, lovelies! Totally one of my favourite days of the year. And to celebrate, I have a dreamy styled engagement shoot to share with you today that is truly South African! Kyle and Lindsay love the bushveld, so for their couple sesh, they settled on a glamorous safari shoot. They chose Glen Afric as their location – a wildlife sanctuary and rehabilitation centre with an outstanding reputation for animal care, which was also the filming location for the BBC series Wild at Heart. They took a walk in the bush in their finery (including that iconic Silver Swallow gown!) and came across the facility’s elephant family, who let’s be honest, totally steal the show! Marissa of Studio40Six was on scene to capture the magic.
Marissa also sent over the couple’s adorable love story:
We met way back when in primary school. We didn’t really take much notice of each other although Kyle says he used to check me out! We however officially met through a mutual friend who was determined to hook us up. To this day, she takes credit for our relationship and as they say, the rest is history.
Our proposal story is one for the books. It was a picture perfect setting on a quiet beach in Mozambique. Kyle had some help planning it and bounced back and forth between ideas for a few weeks. Eventually he settled on a plan and began the tough process of trying to get me to cooperate when I had different ideas of what I wanted to do that day. After convincing me to go for a sunset beach walk with him, two beach vendors came walking towards us. After being harassed by these guys for the duration of our holiday, I wasn’t really keen to stop, but Kyle eventually managed to convince me to have a look at what they had. Me being me, it took me a while to choose the bracelet I wanted. Kyle couldn’t understanding what was taking me so long to choose one, when suddenly another bracelet with my name on it caught my eye. On closer inspection, with so much confusion and excitement I read the bracelet which said “Lindsay will you marry me?” I turned around to find Kyle on one knee with the most beautiful ring! With laughter and and a few tears of happiness I said: “Of course!”
