Boho Southwestern Desert Wedding Inspiration

Desert wedding inspiration has been HUGE this year, you guys, and I’m loving it! But while most of the desert wedding shoots I see have an ethereal quality and are all about muted pastels and mixed neutrals, today’s shoot is ALL about the colour. Pops of bright blue, red, yellow, orange, and coral pink to be precise, which work so beautifully against boho neutrals and the South African cacti vegetation. It’s reminiscent of Southwestern style, prevalent in one of my other all time fave places, Santa Fe in New Mexico, and I just love how patterns and textures are used here to create something we don’t usually see in South African wedding design (but which looks right at home). Bravo to the team, including photographer Mila Photography and stylist Iets Niets – you all did a gorgeous job!

Boho Luxe Forest Wedding at Shalwyn by Oh Happy Day and Carmen Roberts

Mismatched Boho Bridesmaids | Credit: Carmen Roberts

Just when you think you’ve seen boho weddings get as amazing as they’re ever going to get, this one comes in and is like: “Hold my beer.” Every picture from Carmen Roberts is so shut-the-front-door beautiful, you can’t help but stop and stare – it’s almost hard to believe it’s real life (that is, if it weren’t for the smitten looks on bride and groom Lisa and Russel’s faces – can’t fake that!). So how do I describe it? Well, boho sure. Glamorous (especially with the bridesmaids in their red-lip-slinky-dress-faux-fur getup which pretty much wins the mismatched style prize forever – and wait till you see Lisa’s gown!). Natural and Rustic. A little Game of Thrones, as talented event designer (and bridesmaid!) Joelene of Oh Happy Day pointed out. It’s a winter wedding in the forest, and it’s both on trend (pampas arch!) and beyond trend, if that makes any sense. It probably doesn’t. I think it pretty much defies definition, so I’ll stop talking and you start looking. Because however else you want to define it, it’s GORGEOUS.

Atmospheric Wedding Inspiration

“You had me at alpacas.” That’s what I told Stacey of The Shank Tank when she sent over this uniquely gorgeous styled shoot that combines wild, natural elements and dramatic scenery. It’s a little otherworldly, like a visit to another planet, but combined with that atmospheric strangeness is some seriously beautiful and inspiring inspiration, from gowns to table decor, stationery to hair and makeup, and a gold dripped cake for extra yumminess. And the flowers… oh my. SBB faves Natural Nostalgia were absolutely in their element here with a loose, wild bouquet arrangement, pastel-with-an-edge table arrangements, and a floral arch that is just boho perfection. Plus there’s ALPACAS. You can’t get cooler than that!

Boho Equestrian Wedding Inspiration

Boho Equestrian Wedding Inspiration | Credit: MORE Than Just Photography

I always wanted to be a horse person, and spend my afternoons galloping through the countryside with the wind in my hair, but sadly, my horse riding experience is limited to just a couple of rides with these gorgeous animals. (To be fair, the last time was on a beach in New Zealand, which was pretty romantic, so don’t feel too sorry for me.) But I love the idea of a touch of equestrian inspiration, especially tied in with a boho feel and gorgeous winter palette that combines soft pastels with a beautiful dark denim blue. That’s what today’s styled shoot incorporates, and it features not just a whimsical picnic-style table and a deliciously ruffled cake, but a beautiful bride and her bridesmaids in their bohemian wedding finery. From the romantic floral crowns to the strings of clear glass bulbs hanging over the table, the details are sweetly casual, and the whole thing has been beautifully captured and created by Anica of MORE Than Just Photography and her styling team!

Festival Chic Wedding Inspiration (Wanderlust Forever After)

This totally wasn’t planned, but there’s a couple of reasons why today’s shoot from the very fabulous Oh Happy Day, Summertown Pictures and their talented team (including the fab Hanrie Lues Bridal) is perfect timing. Why? Well, for one thing, it’s set in the beautiful Natal Midlands, where I happen to be heading for my own mini adventure today. Just me and Mr Darcy the springer spaniel, and the open road. It’s that same spirit of wanderlust and adventure that inspired this Coachella-esque shoot, which has an air of spontaneity borne of the way it was designed as well as its subject. Boho brides will adore all the jewel-toned touches, from the teal, copper and magenta table to the gorgeous feather-decked cake. And let’s not get started on the boho chic dresses or the macrame backdrop (no seriously, or I’ll never get on the road!). It’s the perfect way to kick off another week of wild beauty, so enjoy!
