Tim Burton Inspired Engagement Shoot

Afternoon, lovelies! Time for a couple shoot, and this one is from Cape Town photographer Katherine Newman, who has just moved back to SA from London (sometimes I wonder if anyone’s left here!). Bride and groom-to-be, Cherise and Nick, have such a fun, funky style and the setting (a nature reserve in Swellendam that unfortunately had recently experienced fire damage) brings to mind the magical landscape of a Tim Burton film. It really shows off the couple’s style and personalities – and as we all know, that’s the very best kind of e-shoot!

Katherine was kind enough to send over some background info:
The couple met when Cherise was working in a video shop. He came in with his friends and Cherise immediately told her friend: ”I’m going to marry that man!” It wasnt until a year later that their paths crossed again at a nightclub where Cherise was working at the door, and on this occasion, their timing was just right. They went on a date the following Sunday and have been inseparable ever since!
Nick proposed in the Drakensburg when they went on a hike, and once they got to the top, Nick blindfolded her, and hung letters to her from every year of their four year relationship, detailing how much they had been through together and how strong their relationship had grown. When Cherise had finished reading the letters, already very emotional, Nick said he wanted to take a picture of them together on a nearby bridge, and when she turned around he was on one knee asking her to make him the happiest man alive and be his wife…
