Winelands Picnic Engagement by Alicia S. Photography

Yay lovelies, it’s the weekend! I can’t think of anything I’d rather be doing on a lazy Saturday than chilling by a lake in the middle of the Cape winelands, and that’s exactly what today’s bride and groom to be (Gerhard and Elsje) chose for their gorgeous eshoot, which really captures that lovely feeling of a summer afternoon with the one you love. Alicia S. Photography was kind enough to share these beautiful pictures with us, and I love the playfulness and connection between the couple, as well as their beautiful surroundings! Whatever you all are doing this weekend, I hope it’s also filled with your favourite things and people.

Alicia sent over some background on the couple:
Gerhard & Elsje will be getting married at Boesmanland Plaaskombuis in Langebaan in March. Since they will be having a beach wedding with a nautical theme, they wanted something a little different for their engagement photographs and chose Spier Wine Farm in Stellenbosch for their location. A few days before the shoot, Gerhard took Elsje to Spier for her birthday which she enjoyed so much that they decided to have their engagement shoot there as well.
Gerhard & Elsje met when she was still in high school and even though he worked far away and they could only see each other on weekends during her matric year, their love kept going strong. Four years later, Gerhard took Elsje on a surprise roadtrip to the Cape. They stopped in Tsitsikama at Harkersville and set up camp (they love camping!). Later that evening Gerhard took Elsje for a long walk on the beautiful beach with a winter’s sunset in the background, got on one knee and asked her to marry him!
