Inspiration Board: Love Rocks

So, talking of natural beauties (as we are this month), there’s a lovely little trend in weddings at the moment for crystals and geodes and everything semi-precious. From table decor to favours to stationery, I for one am absolutely loving it – such a mixture of elegant glamour and natural, organic beauty. For today’s geology-themed board, I’ve combined soft green and pink with grey, silver and gold. The result manages to be both earthy and ethereal. I love it!

Inspiration Board: Sequins & Succulents

Happy Monday, lovely friends! And what better way to start a Monday than with a bit of glitter? One of my favourite things in wedding design (okay, design in general) is the pairing of two unexpected elements – a chandelier in a tree, black tie in the bushveld, or – as we have here – sequins and sparkle with the classic of rustic flower design, the humble succulent. In fact, succulents have come a long way since they were associated exclusively with rustic weddings, and now you’ll find them prettying up just about any style of celebration. So whether you’re a rustic bride looking for a bit of sparkle, or a formal one looking for a softer natural touch, this is the perfect combination.

Inspiration Board: Hydrangea & Brass

Good morning, lovelies! Did you have a fabulous weekend? Today’s inspiration board is very much my kind of wedding – an elegant, slightly rustic style, long tables under the vines, lush hydrangeas everywhere, and the genteel vintage kiss of brass detailing. Oh and let’s not forget an absolutely gorgeous cheese cake! Sometimes a board (and a wedding) theme is as simple as combining two beautiful elements, and I think the mix of white and green hydrangeas with brass makes for an absolutely perfect combination, and one from which to build a beautiful understated scheme.

Colours: White, brass, moss & mushroom

Inspiration Board: Pansy & Pastel

Hello friends! We’re entering the final stretch of the year now, and I don’t know about you, but my head is all over Christmas and new year. Starting next week, we’ll be looking back at our favourite parts of the year here on SBB, but first, we still have some more fresh inspiration to send your way. And first up is this pretty inspiration board, which mixes a strong pansy purple with soft pastel greens and blues. I think it’s so pretty, don’t you? And absolutely lovely for a summer wedding, allowing you to bring in the bright berry shades that are so popular at the moment, balanced with the softer summer hues. Gorgeousness.

Inspiration Board: Golden Leaves

Good lord, how is it Monday again already? And how is it NOVEMBER? There’s only one way to deal with my standard end-of-year panic that time has almost slipped by me today, and that’s with some wedding pretty. I must say, I am loving today’s combination. Partly because I’m a sucker for leaves and garlands, but also because I think that gold, kraft paper and mint make such a sweet mix I’m amazed I haven’t stumbled upon it before. Leaves make an elegant motif in this design, showing up everywhere from stationery to cake to shoes, and it’s a subtle but effective way of tying everything together. Add a mint suit for the groom, and I’m in style heaven.

Inspiration Board: Oracle

Morning lovelies! Time to greet another week, and there’s no better way to do that than with an inspiration board, right? If you’ve been following for any amount of time you’ll probably know by now that I just love olive leaves as wedding decoration. So today I thought I would pair this Mediterranean favourite with glamorous gold – perfect for a bride who wants to feel like a Grecian goddess on her big day. Which leads me to wonder – is there ANYTHING that doesn’t look amazing with gold right now? Because no, I don’t think there is. I especially love the idea of a bride in a soft grey or nude colour dress, and bridesmaids in shimmery glitz, paired with olive leaves and soft white flowers on the tables. Gorgeous.

Colours: Gold, green, white and neutrals

Inspiration Board: Black Tie Botanical

Morning, lovelies! I have a busy week ahead (including throwing a very special party for my mum), so let’s start it off right with a mix of two gorgeous styles that I think make a beautiful wedding combination! Lots of weddings that incorporate the botanical trend have a rustic feel (which is fantastic) but I think that the botanical look just as easily lends itself to a very glamorous, black tie wedding as well, with just a few sophisticated tweaks. The look is lush and luxurious, in classic shades of white, black, emerald green and gold, with the tiniest hint of blush. Swoonage!

Colours: Black, white, gold, emerald, blush

Inspiration Board: Mint & Rose Gold

Okay, I know I am going through a bit of a mint and a pinky phase at the moment, but I think mint and rose gold might be my ultimate right now. I mean, they go together perfectly, like salt and caramel, like Louis and Ella, like Pimms and a summer day. It’s also the ideal mix of a cool and a warm shade, of pastels and metallics, and of classical and modern. Come on, tell me you’re not as over the moon in love with it as I am? ;)

Colours: Mint, white, rose gold

Inspiration Board: Emerald & Blush

Happy Monday, friends! Did you catch my little blogiversary post over the weekend? Well since our blog birthday got me thinking all things commemorative, I’ve decided to do a running series of inspiration boards inspired by birthstones, starting today. Although I almost canned that idea when I saw that the stone for May was emerald, since last year was ALL about this colour. But actually, it gave me a chance to revisit this gorgeous shade. That’s the thing about us bloggers – it’s not that once a colour has had its trend moment that we no longer like it, just that sometimes it’s a case of overkill. For us, because we see a hundred weddings a week, but not for you – and I personally still think emerald has a lot to offer a modern bride and groom, so it was a good time to look at it with fresh eyes. I started thinking about combinations, and I realised that somehow I’d not done emerald and blush before. Whaaaat? I couldn’t believe it, because the soft, romantic blush pink is PERFECT against the crisp, dark, emerald green. It’s the perfect alternative to blush and grey, or a more sophisticated version of blush and mint. What do you think?

Inspiration Board: Teal & Oatmeal

Hang on lovelies, does anyone even know how it got to be the last day of March? Eek. As usual, time is running away from me – after spending the whole of last week buried in tax and accounts, I have spent the weekend catching up with email (a couple of hundred down, several hundred to go…) and getting ready to share some more seriously lovely weddings with you all this week. But first, it’s Monday, and you know what that means! Yep – it means another inspiration board. And I have to say, I am absolutely loving the colour combination on this one. A soft teal – almost a greyed jade – and beautiful neutral oatmealy taupe. And guys, it works sooo well, right? I love the slightly boho vibe to this board – it would work for a country wedding, a farm wedding, and definitely for a beach wedding. Beautiful.
