I won’t lie – one of the highlights for me in curating the images for a post is in spotting and highlighting all the pretty details: the lush flowers, the cute bridesmaid dresses, that totally original favour or seating plan idea. But sometimes I get thoroughly distracted by the moments – those heart-filled, eyes-brimming moments of pure joy that shine through, even when you don’t know the couple personally. That’s what Mosa and Mzwa’s wedding was for me – not only are they the sweetest couple ever, as I learned from my correspondence with the bride, but there’s such intense, beautiful emotion in every picture the super-talented Kristi Agier captured of their big day, that I kind of feel like I was there with them, and it just makes me want to give them a big cheer. Hooray for them, and hooray for love! Of course, there’s plenty of winter wedding elegance to look at too, and lush flowers and cute bridesmaid dresses and the most adorable mini-attendants, not to mention Netherwood really showing off its country charms on a glorious but chilly day – but for me, this one is all about the love.
On a day like today, where every fan in the house is on full blast and I’m still wilting at my desk, it seems a million miles away to be featuring an editorial shoot with misty castles and frozen gems, but that’s another reason why I love it so much! Loosely inspired by Disney’s Frozen, it’s the tale of a princess who is trapped in a freezing castle, dreaming of escape and a world of colour and sunlight and laughter. But even though it’s so fantastical, at the heart of these gorgeous images is a set of super inspiring wedding details, from berry-laden table and cake, to the most GORGEOUS gowns by Gavin Rajah, that would make any bride feel like an absolute princess. We’re sharing this shoot from the pages of the current Wedding Inspirations magazine, and inside you’ll find all the info you need to reproduce this stunning wintery look from the lovely Celeste Potgieter of Celeste Styled Events, as well as loads more wonderful wedding inspiration, so do grab a copy today. In the meantime, let’s sit back and enjoy these beautiful images by Claire Harries and Kristi Agier.Read More
There’s just something especially beautiful about winter isn’t there? As much as I adore carefree summer days, winter has a special coziness and intimacy, a sense of sparkling snowy romance that’s straight out of Dr Zhivago (even if most of South Africa doesn’t actually have any snow). That’s why I love that more of you are planning winter weddings these days. And if you were in any doubt, you just have to look to today’s sophisticated soiree, in shades of white and cream for inspiration. From bridesmaids in sleek little white dresses (LOVE this look) and on-trend long sleeved lace for the beautiful bride, to lush white blooms with touches of gold and lots of clear glass on the tables, it perfectly reflects the clear winter sunshine outside Rockhaven’s rustic walls, as well as the glow of love and joy within. The lovely Kristi Agier was on the scene to capture each special moment for ever and always.Read More
I love bringing you fresh wedding venues here on SBB, and they don’t get fresher than this one (in fact, Deidre & Leon were the very first to get married at the lovely Little Farm on the Stream, a gorgeous olive farm in Wellington. They incorporated the intimate, rustic feel of the farmyard into their DIY-tastic celebration, which also has a lovely, earthy feel to it – the heart-stamp leaf confetti is my fave! I also love that this fun couple included a whimsical element, with both river stones (from their own trips) and toys in between the antique bottles filled with wildflowers on the tables. There are so many gorgeous personal touches, right down to a handmade dancefloor, which is where they closed out the night with one final, incredibly romantic, dance. Sigh! And speaking of fresh talent, I’m so happy to welcome photographer Kristi Agier to SBB for the first time too!Read More
