There are some weddings where just looking at the photos can instantly brighten up your day, and Kyle & Jamie’s (Kyle being the girl and Jamie the boy!) is definitely one of them. Their flowers are AMAZING. Their venue is one of my all-time favourites (Rockhaven Farm, with its resident dogs, cats and ducks, which we also featured here and here). And the two of them just radiate a sense of calm and joy that has had a smile on my face the whole way through putting this post together. Not to mention the incredible light and detail that photographer Jani B manages to get into her pictures – it’s like taking a big gulp of fresh air on a spring morning. (Oh, and regular readers will also spot the flawless cake and biscuit making of one of our own brides, Roxanne Floquet – how gorgeous is her work?) Love!
From the bride:
Jamie and I met at a braai two years ago. He proposed a year later and six months after that I was walking down the aisle!
We wanted a venue that reflected our personalities. We are both very relaxed, laid-back people and so we set out to find a venue that was sophisticated and elegant, without being too pretentious. Rockhaven farm, where we had our wedding, was the first and only venue we saw. It was love at first sight when we arrived to see it. We both just knew that it was exactly what we wanted.
With regards to colors we wanted earthy, natural colors with a splash of various shades of pink, As the venue is quite rustic we wanted to keep our flowers and color theme in tune with the natural fauna and flora around us, and so on each table we had a number of unstructured arrangements in varied containers.
On the day, I loved the venue – it was beautiful, relaxed and everything ran so smoothly! I loved that all our family and friends from Cape Town, the rest of South Africa and overseas were able to join us. It was so incredibly special to have them all there to be able to share our special day with us. I loved looking at my husband all night knowing that I had married the most handsome, generous, loving man on earth. And lastly, I loved sitting back from the main table and just admiring everything that was going on around me… my child hood dream of a fairytale wedding had become a reality!
Organising a wedding is such fun – however it can be a very time consuming job, so just take it in your stride and enjoy every moment of it. I had my mom help, which was amazing – without her I would never have been able to arrange such a perfect day. Make sure you are comfortable with your photographer, as from the time you are getting dressed until the end of your wedding he or she will always be somewhere close by and you need to make sure that you have a good understanding of each other’s space. And finally, take time out at some point during the wedding to just stand and reflect on your day with your new husband, as it goes so quickly with so many people to talk to – the last thing you want is to not feel like you had enough time with each other.
Jamie & Kyle: wishing the two of you a life together as beautiful as your wedding, and a very big thank you for sharing it with us!
