Real Wedding at Beloftebos {Alexandra & Rob}

Morning lovelies! If you popped in yesterday looking for your real wedding fix, apologies that it wasn’t there as usual – Chez Gaby is full of visitors at the moment. Which is lovely, but does make it difficult for me to find time to blog. But I was too excited to share today’s colourful, sunny wedding with you to wait any longer! And what a perfect day for it – the sun is shining in London and it looks like it’ll be a beautiful day!! (Erm, I realise this means summer is over for you lot in the Southern Hemisphere, so sorry about that, but on this side of the world we are very happy to see blue skies again!) ANYWAY. As I said, today’s wedding is full of colour, including the gorgeous sunflowers, which are the bride’s favourite flowers. I think they set such a great tone, don’t they immediately make you cheerful?! Alexandra and Rob chose one of my favourite venues for their big day – the gorgeous Beloftebos – and I love how it looks completely different with every wedding. Its country vibe was ideal for what they had in mind, and Bernard Bravenboer was there to capture all the goodness with his camera.

From the lovely bride, Alexandra:
Rob and I met through university – we were in the same class and had seen each other a lot before we met at a bar one night… it was love at first sight! :)

We found the venue first and absolutely fell in love with it. We wanted to keep it simple in line with the rustic feel of the venue, but also tried to make it as bright and happy as possible, so we chose yellow, blue and coral for our colours. Also, my favourite flower is the sunflower so we wanted to be able to incorporate those as much as we could.

Everything about the day – from the ceremony to the first dance – was just exactly suited to how we are and we loved that. We are both agnostic and so we wanted a ceremony true to that – we found a whole lot of poems and asked people who were special to us to read them out during the ceremony. It was so wonderful to have people we loved so involved in making our day perfect.

The best advice we could suggest is to just try to take some time out on the day to appreciate everything – it all goes so quickly and it’s over before you realise. Taking time out after the ceremony, just you and your husband, to take it all in, is so important. As far as other advice goes, wear comfortable shoes! And try to get help from as many people as possible if you’re on a budget – we were so lucky with our flowers and decor, as friends and family helped with it all. Most of all, enjoy it :)

Thanks so much, Rob and Alexandra, for sharing your day! And to Bernard Bravenboer, a big thanks for the pictures. You can see more on his blog here.
