So, as I mentioned this morning, this month we’re all about industrial wedding inspiration, which for me means mixing soft and romantic with utilitarian, traditionally unromantic textures and objects. Which somehow manages to look whimsical and wonderful instead of just plain wrong – in the same way that chandeliers in a barn are awesome, or black tie weddings in the bushveld. It’s all about the contrast. And that’s what today’s styled shoot is all about too – it’s called ‘Rustic Elegance’ and mixes an offbeat vibe with softer elements like beautiful florals and a frothy gown. The venue is Gauteng’s own Katy’s Palace, which has eclectic vintage industrial decor, and is just the perfect setting for this bridal editorial by Ribbon Creative Studio and Maiden Moose Photography. Enjoy!
We’re kicking off a new week with a punch of colour – and more than a touch of homegrown style, which as you all know, is our FAVE. As it’s Heritage month, our friends at Wedding Inspirations magazine have commissioned a seriously wonderful ‘Local is Lovely’ issue, celebrating everything beautiful and South African, from indigenous florals to beadwork-inspired cakes. There’s so much to inspire you here, so do be sure to go out and grab yourself a copy. Today, we’re delighted to share this seriously gorgeous shoot from the September issue, a modern twist on traditional local motifs (shwe shwe, yay!), against the modern blank canvas of White Light. With decor and styling by Ribbon Creative Studio and photography by SBB Directory members Jack and Jane, you know you’re going to see something completely fresh and lovely, so let’s dive on in! (And PS, you’ll find all the info on how to get the look for yourself in the magazine.)Read More
I’ve been looking forward to sharing this lovely bridal portrait shoot with you for a while, and I can’t think of a better time than in our month of everything floral. Cindy (whose wedding we featured a couple of months back) opted to do a bridal portrait shoot (I must say, I just love these!) with the fabulous Jack and Jane Photography, the idea behind it being that “beauty is being the best possible version of yourself on the inside and out” (holla!). I just adore the way that these images have a watercolour quality to them, not just from the mix of pastel and floral print gowns that Cindy wears and the beautiful flower crown and ladder, but from the desert background that gives everything that amazing painterly quality. Pretty, pretty, PRETTY.Read More
We always love when a couple use the details of their wedding day to tell their love story, but when it’s a bijoux wedding, those details often become even more unique and special because there’s more focus (and often more budget) to invest in them. Take today’s gorgeous pair of lovebirds – Carsten proposed to Cindy in tropical Singapore, where she fell in love with a specific type of orchid in the botanical gardens. So when planning their small wedding back in SA, it was those very flowers that the couple chose to remind them of that special time, and which formed the basis of their wedding and floral design. Sweet, simple and truly intimate, we’re so excited to share their happy day with you, beautifully captured by SBB faves Jack and Jane Photography.Read More
