I always say that SouthBound Bride is for couples bound to South Africa by birth, or bound for South Africa as their wedding destination, and I have to say, I always get a little thrill when I see international couples choose our beautiful land for their nuptials. Melanie is from Germany and Oliver was born in Colombia, but it was in Cape Town that they chose to tie the knot, in a gorgeous ceremony and reception that was inspired by Melanie’s love for contemporary interior design. With a palette of midnight blue, rose quartz and blush, an outdoor ceremony next to a horse paddock, and opulent tables overflowing with pink peonies, white Colombian hydrangeas, berries and garden roses, as well as Delft-style vases that bridged the gap between the couple’s story (and their love of travel) and their wedding destination. Needless to say, they were in the best hands with their planners, the forever awesome Wedding Concepts, who took the couple’s fresh ideas and turned them into trend-setting splendour. Summer Brights Wedding Inspiration
Happy Monday, friends! I know the start of a new week is supposed to be dull and depressing and blah, but today we’re turning Monday on its head with an inspiration shoot full of vibrant acid brights and rich copper – a palette that perfectly shows off the look of the season! For this cutting edge design we turned, as we always do, to Wedding Concepts, whose trendsetting vision always ensures they’re a step ahead. I love how unexpected this palette is, how elegant, and yet how gorgeously African (flash of Skinny laMinx, love!), and the use of shiny acrylics, lasercut, hanging florals, luxe copper touches and the most incredible cakes and desserts. Planning a summer wedding? Take a second look at your colour palette and see if you can infuse it with an unexpected bright or a luxe metallic for extra gorgeousness. Luxurious Floral Wedding at The Westcliff by Tyme Photography
It’s no secret around here that I’m a huge fan of Wedding Concepts, one of SA’s premier wedding co-ordinators and the creative force behind today’s wedding. Jenni and Roy’s wedding just happens to be a perfect illustration of why. It’s seriously luxe, but also classic and ever so elegant – from that breathtaking three metre high draped floral arch and crystal chandelier combo dominating the ceremony decor, through to the opulent reception overflowing with pink and lilac blooms (no wonder the guests were wowed!). It’s trendsetting without being brash or over the top. But best of all, it’s personal and intimate, and Wedding Concepts exceeded the couple’s expectations with sweet surprise touches like monogram details on the dancefloor and bar. With Johannesburg’s famous Four Seasons The Westcliff making for a five star backdrop, and Tyme Photography behind the camera, this is one celebration that couldn’t help but be spectacular!
Real Wedding at Netherwood {Michele & Brad}
Morning SouthBound Brides! We’re kicking off today’s pretty with a foggy wedding from the beautiful Natal Midlands. Now fog might be one weather scenario you hadn’t considered (and to be fair, most of you won’t need to), but Michele and Brad got a LOT of it. And here’s what immediately made me love them when Michele sent in her photos from Tyme Photography – there was no hiding away inside trying not to get her hair damp. They went out into that fog and rocked it like it was a Prince video. The results are amazing! And that’s just one thing to like about this cozy autumn wedding, with it’s swish black and white colour scheme, spirals of lamps and chocolate tequila (best favours EVER). It might be a million miles away from South African summer, but for those of you just getting cracking with your planning, I hope this (and the other lovely autumn and winter weddings we’ve featured here) will at least make you consider an off-season wedding. Because they can be so, so lovely! Anyway, before I start preaching, I’ll hand you over to the lovely Michele…Read More
