Time for another real wedding, folks! This one comes from SBB friend and sponsor Dreampix Photography. If there are two things I’m a great big fan of it’s the colour navy and an outdoor wedding. Even more so when that outdoor wedding has an ‘indoor outdoor’ feel – a transfer of elegant indoor (ballroom) decor like chandeliers and checked dancefloor to an outdoor space under the trees. There’s something so romantic about that, like a table for two set up on a beach, or sleeping under the stars, don’t you think? Tinus and El-Ray had both of these elements in their De Hoop Nature Reserve wedding, and they came together beautifully. I also love that they had games for guests in a scenic drinks reception after the ceremony – so fun! Thanks to Kobus of Dreampix for sending this one over. Oh, and PS, it’s clearly fun nailpolish day here on SBB – loving the navy on the bridesmaids!
From the lovely bride, El-Ray:
We met through mutual friends of ours. I never thought we would become more than friends till Tinus got my cell number and randomly we started texting other.
The proposal came on the most stunning one month holiday to Namibia. One of the places we were staying at was Wolwedans, with our tented chalet in the middle of the bush and dunes. He proposed in the morning at sunrise after he woke me up and I looked like a ghost! That day I didn’t care for any animals on our game drive, just stared at my ring the whole time!
Both of us love nature so we wanted an outdoor wedding, and also a nice place where we could have our wedding weekend with guests staying over. One of our favourite holiday spots is Arniston so we were scouting in the area when we stumbled upon the stunning De Hoop Nature Reserve.
We wanted a colour scheme that Tinus would also like and not be overpowered by pink & purple! Navy blue is one of our favourite colours, and we combined it with green to go with nature and the setting of the trees we got married under.
Everything, from the flowers to the décor to the wedding pictures to the ceremony, just absolutely everything was so special about our day and we cannot imagine it any other way! All our family and friends came from near and far to share our special day (and wedding weekend). I’ll never forget my dad’s happy and proud face when he saw me for the first time in my wedding dress, and of course giving each other the first official kiss as a married couple and enjoying the rest of the evening with everyone!
My advice to future brides is to enjoy every moment of planning and then seeing the final product on the day. Take in every second of your special day and take a moment to stand back and look at your family and friends enjoying themselves to remember that feeling for always, as well as the feelings you felt for your partner on the day. Sometimes you will even forget that your guests are there!
Thanks so much Tinus and El-Ray! Wishing you much happiness with your bundle of joy due later this year! If you’d like to see more of Dreampix’s pics from this wedding, make sure you head over to their website.
