Blair Nadeau 2015 Yester-year Collection

Happy Friday, lovelies! What do you have in store for the weekend? With the sun out in a big way in Durban, I suspect I am going to spend most of it glued to the side of the pool. But first, it’s time to share some more lovely fashion inspiration, and today it comes to you in the form of Canadian milliner Blair Nadeau‘s latest collection. Which just happens to fit beautifully into our boho month – especially with this styled shoot photographed by Whitney Heard, which is all kinds of boho gorgeous! Be sure to check out the Blair Nadeau Etsy store to order some of these lovelies.

Blair sent over some background info on her exciting new collection:
This season we dove into vintage archives to create a fantastic collection inspired by weddings of years past. We were enthralled by the beauty of yester-year. The gracefulness of brides from the early 1900s as well as brides from the Elizabethan era. Silks were our fabrics of choice, as natural a fibre as they come. We created soft tissue like flowers that grace many of our veils and headpieces. Taking a page out of history, we hand painted many of our flowers using silk dyes and inks to create beautiful three-dimensional floral sculptures. New to our range this season, we have begun handcrafting beautiful dress sashes. Using our traditional millinery techniques, we have delicately beaded French Alencon lace, Mokuba laces with hand set Preciosa and Swarovski crystals. Hand pressed silk flowers are also staple pieces on our new sashes. Colour played an important part in this collection as we experimented with shades of mint, blush, opal, pale yellow and sage, all of these tones were used to convey a muted dusty palette of yesterday. Metals and the mixing of metals is a key message as we mixed silver, gold and rose gold to make elegant crowns and headpieces.

As this collection was inspired by the past, we wanted to pay tribute to all of those that have supported us from childhood and throughout the journey of both Blair Nadeau Millinery and this current collection. Each piece has been named after the individual who it reflects, important people in our past and current life. Our mothers, grandmothers, family, best friends, close friends current and past are all honored in this collection as each of these people have touched our life in such a special way.
