We like to start our Mondays off pretty, and today’s inspiration is definitely that! It has a positively delicious palette for starters – rich plum and berry tones popping against shades of blue that range from periwinkle to denim. Mmmm! With hanging florals and elegant table settings, it’s got all the pretty you need, but with a few moody touches like black candles and a beautiful marble cake (yay for our month of marble and minerals!) which make this look absolutely PERFECT for a winter wedding! And let me not forget to mention the spectacular jewelled wedding gown! So much of wow, and Mila Photography was on the scene to capture every detail!

Pastels & Proteas Wedding Inspiration
Look out! Something pretty is heading your way fast, and I am super stoked to share it! When Aline of Aline Photography hosted a workshop recently, she decided she just had to incorporate the beautiful Pantone colours of 2016, Rose Quartz and Serenity Blue. Yep, these shades may have had their year already, but the industry is definitely not done with them yet – they just lend themselves so well to wedding design! Add in some heartstopping King Proteas, and you have the kind of inspiration that feels homegrown as well as beautiful (my favourite kind) – and that’s before you’ve even seen the other lovely details like a sweet dessert display, rosey stationery, and a stunning lace gown! Let’s get our inspiration on!
Egoli Wedding Inspiration
Yay you guys! We’re officially kicking off August’s content today, and in my favourite way – inspirational and on trend, with a Mzansi twist. Our theme this month is marble and minerals, and we’ll be showcasing everything gem and geode and rock. These are the trends that are defining 2017 wedding design internationally, but of course we have a very special connection to minerals here in SA, as gold is part of our lifeblood, running through the veins of our nation. And Johannesburg, called the ‘City of Gold’, is the appropriate venue for this gorgeous shoot which celebrates Egoli, but adds a soft, romantic and summery feel to the gold theme. It’s beautiful work by a team that includes stylist RIL Weddings and Kelly M. The beautiful model with her stunning gold leaf makeup makes quite an impression (I DARE a bride to rock this!), but then so do the lush florals and gold tipped glassware and of course, the beautiful gown. So much to inspire us all! You might even say it was the gold standard! (Sorry, I couldn’t help myself!)
Bohemian Safari Wedding Inspiration
Well, if this shoot isn’t right up our street, then I don’t know what is! Take a beautiful bushveld setting, add in a combination of safari and bohemian styling, some bright colours, native flowers and WOW. Coba Uys sent me these lovely pics from a collaboration with Ramona from Journey Weddings. Ramona is a wedding planner from the Netherlands, who helps couples plan their dream weddings in SA, and she wanted to create something a bit different to the usual safari style. So together with Coba and a team of local talents, that’s just what she did!
Mexican Love Story Wedding Inspiration
Get ready lovelies, because I am about to make. your. week. with this pretty! From the minute this gorgeous Mexican-inspired shoot landed in my inbox I have been dying to share it with you! First off, it all takes place at the incredible Crystal Barn, and I’m so excited for the chance to show it off in all it’s quirky, elegant, total-venue-crush glory! In fact, it’s such an inspiring place that it was the location itself that set stylist Jacqui Trinder of Accentuate Hair & Makeup dreaming up this whole scene. She pulled together a dream team of local vendors, and the result is utterly wow! There’s so much here to get your heart beating faster and inspire your own nuptials – bright floral crowns, baroque opulence, bold colours and custom stationery, insanely beautiful McCarthy Wolff dresses, adorable iced biscuits, and you guys – a DONKEY. I mean, it really has it all, including beautiful images by Lar Photography. Let’s dive in!
Gorgeous Greenery Wedding Bouquets
Goodness greenery! I’m loving this whole trend, and not least because of how bouquets are turning all shades of green. I mean, I love colour, but there’s just something so fresh and beautiful about a classic bouquet made up of different green varieties and maybe some soft white blooms for extra romance! Don’t you agree? Well, even if you don’t, by the end of this roundup you almost certainly will, because it’s chock full of green bouquets that will make you swoon! Good luck picking a favourite! ;)
A Vision of Eden Styled Shoot
Hello friends! This month we’ve been all about the greenery, but today’s shoot isn’t just about loving botanicals – it’s about wearing them! Inspired by the work of Carol Jillian, who creates botanical and floral couture in Austin, Texas, this talented US-based creative team put together three looks that evoke the Garden of Eden and are pure botanical couture! And since we love bold ideas and fresh inspirations here on SBB, I couldn’t wait to feature them. Even if you’re not going to wear a wedding gown made of foliage, you can still be thoroughly inspired by the gorgeous colour combos, lush tablescapes and sweet treats on display here, thanks to these fabulous images by Ronnie Bliss Photography.
Green Gem Engagement Rings
Josephine Art Deco Old European Cut Diamond and Emerald Engagement Ring by Victor Barbone Jewelry
I’ve got to tell you, I am LOVING this whole trend of alternative engagement rings. I mean, don’t get me wrong, diamonds are gorgeous, but then again, so are the many alternative stones that you can use. I am such a jewellery girl myself, and seeing what the options are once a bride opens up to something different has me in full-scale “ooh, I want that!” mode. Take this collection from Etsy, for example. Green stones aren’t an automatic choice for an engagement, sure. And when I think green stones, I only really think emerald (which I love). But tsavorite, sapphire, moissanite, peridot… it’s a whole ‘nother world. From platinum to rose gold to yellow, the options are kind of endless, and you’re sure to fall in love with at least one of them – I know I did! (Links in bold denote affiliate links. The cost to you remains the same, but SBB may receive a commission for any sales made.)
Minimalist Chic Wedding Inspiration
In between all the lush extra-ness of weddings these days, one word I keep hearing is ‘minimalist’ (actually, I keep hearing minimalistic – not a word people, look it up). And this less-is-more approach is what today’s inspiration is all about. Clean lines, geometric shapes, bold florals. It may be simple, but WOW does it ever make a statement! Beautifully put together by Coral of Epanouir flower studio and photographed by Debbie Lourens, this pared down style is one of the key looks of the moment, so if you’re the kind of bride who’d rather wear a slip than a ballgown, carry a single bloom instead of a cascade, and rolls your eyes when you see a flower wall, this one’s for you.
Gin & Greenery Garden Party Wedding Inspiration
Hello friends! I’m back after a few days off last week dealing with behind the scenes business stuff that desperately needed my attention (when will I learn I can’t do it all?) And I’m super excited to share this gorgeous shoot with you today, not just because it’s filled with light and Pantone Greenery-esque detail, and hello, a bright orange gin bar! I also get to introduce you to Emily Allan of PeppermintPix who is seriously just the sweetest. She joined the SBB Directory recently, and I have been dying to show off some of her lovely work. How better than with this organic garden party-style inspiration?
