Give me a wedding in ice cream pastels and you’ll have one happy blogger. There’s just something about the soft shades (especially when mixed together) that I absolutely love – it feels like spring and easter and an afternoon on the beachfront wearing a sundress and eating a 99, all in one. Today’s pastel fest has an extra special fun aspect – roses for Rose, the lovely bride who decided to play on both her first name and new surname to add a whimsical touch to the decor. With a crown of her namesake flowers, towers of macarons and cupcakes and (Shut the Front Door!) a custom pastel dance floor, it has everything a pastel-lover could dream of. Love Story
We met in a club, so not very romantic, but our relationship has been very romantic ever since!
The Proposal
It was our ten year anniversary and we went to Brazil. Darren said that he would like to book all our accommodation for our holiday and I thought nothing of it. We chilled for the first part in Rio (which I knew about) and we went to a festival over New Years on the beach. From the festival I had no idea where we were staying. We left the festival and boarded a private plane! It was amazing! We flew to an island in Brazil – Morro de Sao Paulo – and we went out for a romantic dinner on the beach. We walked on the beach after dinner and next thing I knew he was down on one knee proposing! It was very romantic, he is always the romantic one :)
The Venue
We chose Vrede en Lust as our wedding venue purely because it is the most beautiful wine farm we have ever been to. Our dream was always to get married on a wine farm as we absolutely love wine so our dreams came true!
Wedding Style
Our theme was pastel.
Wedding Details
My new surname was Cann so our whole theme was “The Two-Canns” and we had toucan birds on the top of our cake. We had roses in watering cans (Rose Cann) and when we were introduced at the reception, the song that played was the Can Can, so those were all our special touches that suited our personalities.
The Flowers
We had all the different coloured pastel roses arranged in watering cans.
The Dress
I went to Bride & Co. with my girlfriends for a fun day out. I let them all choose a dress that they thought would suit me. One of my friends chose a dress that I was almost certain would not look good on me and when I put it on, I just knew it was the one! I wanted a pink dress, but this was a white dress so I added pink crystal beads and a pink sash to give it an elegant splash of pink.
Memorable Moments
All of it! But the few that stand out is when Darren saw me walking down the aisle, when we walked out of the manor house after signing the register and everyone was blowing bubbles and throwing rose petals on us and lastly, having a good old jam with every single special person in our lives!
The Honeymoon
We went to Thailand for three weeks, it was the most amazing holiday, just what we needed after all the wedding stress!
Advice for Future Brides & Grooms
Don’t stress! It will all come together! Remember the day is about you as a couple and not about anyone else, it is important to remember this and not think about everyone else. Lastly, remember every second of your wedding day and spend it with your partner as much as possible.
