I’m dreaming of springtime blossoms and cool breezes thanks to this gorgeous inspiration! I love the fusion of styles in this shoot – a little bit woodsy and bohemian, but at the same time, clean and contemporary. The editorial (created by a talented team led by Wren Photography and Juniper & Lace Events) includes includes a beautiful array of textures: wood, macrame, copper, greenery, watercolour. So romantic! The palette keeps things fresh – a stunning combo of deep greens, bright white, and warm copper, that perfectly shows off the natural scenery of Michigan, US, where it takes place. There’s so many details, but no surprise, my fave is the donut wall – these treats are as pretty and on-theme as the flavours are mouth-watering! I also love the idea of a clear marquee and draping to go with the rest of the decor, as it adds an elegant contrast to the more earthy rustic styling of the tablescape. From ceremony styling to florals to food, there’s so much here to inspire a SouthBound bride!

Minimalist Greenery Wedding Inspiration
We’re starting our week off BEAUTIFUL with today’s styled shoot, an elegant fusion of minimalist and organic style that I am absolutely in love with! It comes courtesy of Carolina Goodwin Photography and her talented team, and features an understated greenery arch, stylish florals, a gorgeously classic cake, and the most amazing stationery! For the tables, a soft white silk linen runner laid with simple greenery interspersed with votives, a napkin tied with more greenery, and a copper calligraphy scroll placecard. Perfection! That’s the thing about this kind of luxe minimalism – the details aren’t many, but every single one of them is carefully chosen and placed and the end result is harmonious and delightful to the eye! Super inspiring. To create it, Carolina says, she “wanted to evoke the spirit of the outdoors by using loose, natural floral arrangements. The movement conveys a sense that they are growing! The use of white negative space highlighted with just simple greenery gives a very earthy and organic feeling that brings elegance with minimal adornment.” Let’s dive in, shall we?
Delicate Garden Wedding Inspiration
Oh garden weddings, you have my heart! Today’s styled shoot has such a lovely, genteel feel about it – a delicate take on garden wedding style in the most delicious shades of lemon, cream and pale blue (a palette that on its own made me fall right in love!). Shot at the Bramble Tree Estate in Florida, USA, the creative team brought their vision to life with romantic touches like soft linens, vintage plates, gorgeous calligraphy invitations, and a wow-factor gown that is just perfect for the pretty summer vibe! With the bride sporting a beautifully whimsical updo, and the groom handsome but laid back in an open shirt and suit, this is my kind of warm weather wedding style – just add lemonade! Thanks to photographer Amy Saavedra and her team of talents for sharing this prettiness with us!
Bold & Stylish Wedding at Bosjes Estate by Koa Photography
Hooray! Ever since the breathtaking Bosjes chapel opened, I’ve been DYING to feature a wedding there, and I have to say, this is the perfect one. Tania and Willem’s big day is spectacular – impeccably designed, original, stylish, but also with the kind of warmth and intimacy that you can’t manufacture. It’s also the perfect representation of this modern couple. Tania is an architect, making the location super appropriate alongside the bride’s vision of bold black stripes with pops of bright jewel tones. The groom is in farming, so the gorgeous rural location, as well as the bountiful flowers and fruit that decked their chic tables (including pomegranates, which are farmed on his estate) were a reflection of his passion and livelihood. It was basically the perfect coming together of two styles, as well as two lovely people. And with Koa Photography there to capture all the fabulousness from behind the lens, we couldn’t be happier to share it with you today!
Sage & Charcoal Wedding at Green Leaves Country Lodge by Werner J Photography
We’re stepping into the leafy shade of today’s wedding, with its cool green and grey hues, classic design, and elegant natural vibe. Roxanne and Jeac are the couple in question, and they were married at the Italian-inspired Green Leaves Country Lodge, surrounded by their nearest and dearest, as well as the beautiful Hartebeespoort mountains. And while the details are lovely, the real focus for this pair was on their ceremony. As photographer Werner J explains it: “the ceremony was one to never forget, as the chapel was filled with Roxanne and Jeac’s loving spirits, and guests witnessing their love could not help but shed a tear or two!” Aww!
Darling Springtime Wedding at Towerbosch by Kusjka du Plessis
With the darling buds just showing their spring faces to this side of the world, sweethearts Erin and Julia made their way all the way from Switzerland to tie the knot on South African soil. And what a lovely wedding it was! Combining touches of their Swiss life with local traditions, it paid tribute to their different heritages and sweet personalities. The decor was pastel, rustic, a little vintage, and ever so pretty, and Julia herself was a natural knockout in her simple gown and floral headpiece. The flowers were soft and a little rambling, like they’d just been picked from a Swiss mountainside. I especially loved the little handmade touches – the cake baked by the groom’s mom, the arch crafted by his father, and the couple’s beautiful quilt. And here’s something else I love – the story below is written by the groom, Erin. Always a pleasure to hear a groom’s perspective! Kusjka du Plessis took these absolutely gorgeous pictures of the big day.
Unique Cocktail-Style Wedding with a Sunset Ceremony by Nikki van Diermen
And now, as the Monty Python boys say, for something completely different. Kat and Keith’s wedding danced to its own tune: a sunset ceremony, a cocktail reception punctuated with wild blooms and houndstooth accents, fairy lights and floor-to-ceiling window views. A bride who looked like a modern fairytale princess in the most spectacular Janita Toerien gown with statement sleeves and gold belt detail (this is how minimalist bridal style is done right folks!) carrying a simple bouquet of Odessa calla lilies, bridesmaids in a rainbow of autumn shades, a geode cake. And of course, a love between bride and groom like no other. It was, as their photographer Nikki van Diermen put it: “perfectly unordinary”.
Blush & Rose Gold Wedding at The Venue Fontana by Bright Girl Photography
When it comes to describing Coral and Devon’s dreamy, elegantly rustic wedding, I can’t think of any better way than as the lovely Eileen of Bright Girl Photography told it to me! “I knew their wedding would be amazing, but I was blown away when I arrived and saw all the beautiful decor and the warm sunshine bouncing off the green leaves in the forest where the ceremony was going to take place. It was magical. When Coral slipped her dress on, the magic continued… The friends, the flowers, the tears of happiness and all the stones which the guests held throughout the ceremony… all was magic or so it seemed. I mean who else can catch popcorn with a smiling mouth wide open with laughter while leading his gorgeous bride up the aisle. Yes, Devon can! These two were wrapped with warmth and love for each other and from their friends and family.” Awwww! It really is a special day, and includes the work of some of my very favourite KZN wedding pros, including the very talented Eileen, Hanrie Lues Bridal (who made Coral’s gorgeous dress!) and one of my all-time fave venues, The Venue Fontana. Enjoy!
Boho Desert Wedding Inspiration
We’re so lucky here in South Africa to have such a range of natural landscapes, from the lush tropical Natal greens I’m surrounded by every day myself, to the shimmering desert textures of the Karoo, and the wild expanses of the bushveld. Today’s shoot celebrates some of that natural beauty, with a palette of matte greens and oranges and yellows with pops of deep red, a backdrop of gorgeous aloes, and rustic, desert-inspired table details and stationery. This makes for such a fabulous wedding inspiration for you brides-to-be to draw from – like a homegrown version of boho chic… especially when you add in the dresses from the Spellekussing Bohemian Bridal range showcased here! I’m a sucker for this kind of wild beauty, photographed here by the talented Natalie Loots!
Dreamy Autumn Wedding Inspiration by Cara Faye Weddings
Today’s feature reminds me why, when I started SBB, I was so crazy for making inspiration boards – there’s something about playing with colour and creating new and fresh and surprising or interesting combos that just makes my heart sing. And I especially love that when it comes to autumn weddings, which can be very clichéd in terms of palette, deferring to the standard golds and burnt reds and oranges and browns of the falling leaves. But in SA we have a gentler autumn mostly, so it seems only appropriate that maybe our autumn weddings are a little less harsh. Today’s styled shoot by Cara Faye Weddings and her trend-setting team of wedding pros really hits a perfect balance – those traditional autumn tones are in there, but balanced against some super pretty purple and pink tones, along with soft flowers and dreamy textures. It’s gorgeous, and such a perfect way to make an autumn wedding feel both seasonal AND romantic!
